Longmont Twin Peaks Rotary will host a “Lawn Party at the Peaks” event, featuring live music from Denver’s own Wash Park, on July 9.
“They’re a tremendously popular band,” Rich Schenker, one of the event’s organizers and a Longmont Twin Peaks Rotary past president, said in a recent interview. “People will be up dancing most of the time.”
Wash Park consists of three vocalists, a four-piece horn section and a five-piece rhythm section and performs “dance music from the (’70s)” to “top 40 hits of today,” according to the band’s website.
“They are the magnet for this event,” Schenker said of Wash Park.
The event is for those age 21 and older and will be at Village at the Peaks, 1250 S. Hover Road.
Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with the event running from 7 to 10 p.m.
Tickets are $30, covering the live performance from Wash Park and also including food from Parry’s Pizzeria & Taphouse.
A cash bar will be open for attendees.
Schenker said the event was not formal and that “summer attire” was encouraged.
“You don’t have to wear a tuxedo,” he explained.
The event’s net proceeds will benefit local charity organizations and tickets can be purchased at twinpeaksrotary.org.
“Every single penny over our expenses,” Schenker said of what would go toward local charities.
