Mifflin County band wins first event of season – Lewistown Sentinel

Sep 19, 2022
MOUNT JOY — The Mifflin County High School marching band won Donegal High School’s Green Nation Band Celebration Saturday.
The Huskies finished with a score of 78.6 and also won specialty awards for Best Drum Line and Best Color Guard.
The event was sanctioned by the Tournament of Bands (TOB) and the National Judges Association.
The score puts Mifflin County in second place overall in TOB’s Group 3-A Class behind Jackson-Liberty High School from Jackson Township,
New Jersey.
“The band had their best practices of the season on Thursday and Saturday,” Band Director Art Belfiore said. “The MCHS Band has 27 first year members, which is 33% of the band and they are also the largest and youngest band ever at MCHS. In spite of all that they performed like Champions at Donegal.”
The band will be in competition again next Sept. 24 at Huntingdon’s War Veterans Memorial Field, taking the field at 3:30 p.m. Tickets and show information can be obtained by contacting Belfiore at the school.
